About Me
Where I’ve been: I taught high school Spanish for twelve years. I have also led the World Language department, managing instructional resources and assessments. I spent most of my time in the classroom, using a variety of learner-centered approaches, including social and individual, technology-based learning. When schools went remote, I expanded my knowledge of technology-based learning and found ways to keep learners engaged without the use of in-person instruction.
Why I do this: I enjoy helping people become more effective and more efficient. We all have a lot on our plates, and when I can make people’s jobs easier by teaching them a new way of doing something or make important information more accessible, then I am happy to do that.
Tools I use: In my teaching role, I use the Google Suite, as in Docs, Slides, Sheets. I have used Articulate 360, Storyline and Rise, as you’ll see in my work samples. For these, I used Adobe Photoshop and Premiere to edit graphics and videos. I use Microsoft Office, as in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, at home. Google Classroom is the learning management system that I use regularly. I’ve dabbled with Adobe Captivate and Camtasia. Additionally, I have become familiar with other LMSs as well as LRSs and have an understanding of HTML and JavaScript.
Beyond my work: I am the mother of an amazing teenage son. I love spending time at his games and supporting him in his adventures, which most recently included becoming a college freshman. I’ve volunteered as a coach, a team mom and summer camp chaperone. I also like to listen to music, and I’m in the beginning stages of learning to play guitar.
